Industry Safety Induction (ISI) - Toowoomba

The Industry Safety Induction (ISI) is a one-day, standardised safety induction developed by Safer Together. It establishes a consistent foundation of safety knowledge and expected safe-working behaviours for people entering the Australian Energy Production Industry.

It helps New Starts understand the industry they’re entering, the hazards and risks they may encounter, their responsibilities and, importantly, the behaviours expected of them to help keep themselves and the people around them safe.

ISI reached its tenth anniversary in July 2026. From August 2026 the course also covers the fundamentals of Assist & Assure Frontline Awareness Training, so New Starts learn the foundations of safe systems of work and how to identify and manage risk before a task begins. That prepares them to take part properly in pre-start meetings, toolbox talks and everyday safety conversations.

Safer Together’s Industry Safety Induction (ISI) is designed for New Starts. A New Start is anyone who has not worked in the Australian Energy Production Industry for at least 12 months in the last 2 years. All New Starts must satisfactorily complete ISI before working on the development or operation of onshore or offshore facilities.

If you’ve worked in the Australian Energy Production Industry for more than 12 months in the last 2 years, you can complete an Experienced Worker Declaration Form as evidence that you’re not required to complete ISI before starting work.
