Introduction
Our CPR Training Chinchilla is our Basic Life Support training and is a comprehensive CPR course following the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. Our CPR training thus covers DRSABCD and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED). This course is also used for annual CPR refresher purposes.
At Harness, we use first aid and CPR specialist trainers to deliver an engaging and active course at our specialist training facility in Chinchilla that will benefit you at work and home. While it’s one of those skills everyone should both have and maintain, our training relates particularly to you if you work in medium or higher risk jobs or industry sectors
On the successful completion of the CPR course in Chinchilla you will receive a CPR Certificate that is valid for 12 months and meets the needs of those needing refresher CPR training to renew their currency as much as if you are doing CPR training for the first time. If you have a group to train on site we can also bring the training to you and provide group training discounts.

Introduction
Course Details
Given the broad applicability of having your CPR Certificate combined with the need for annual refreshers, you have the option to enrol in CPR on its own or, depending on your role, in combination with other relevant courses such as First Aid or LVR. We do schedule the CPR course so that you can make the most of your training irrespective of your role – be it CPR training on its own or CPR with First Aid Training or CPR with Low Voltage Rescue Training.
The focus of the CPR training is on the detail, both theoretical and practical, of the whole CPR related aspects from situation assessment to administering CPR, using an automated external defibrillator and all associated communications and incident reviewing. Details of this is provided below.
The CPR component of the course involves substantial practical aspects:
Recognise and assess the situation.
- Make sure that you and anyone nearby are safe before assessing the condition of the person needing help.
- Determine whether they require cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and call for emergency services.
Observe and Practice actual CPR procedures.
- Administer CPR following the guidelines set by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC).
- Show respect and consideration for the person in distress and
- Use an automated external defibrillator (AED) according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Learn how to communicate relevant incident details.
- Accurately report the incident details to the emergency services and follow the appropriate workplace or site procedures for reporting.
- Protect the privacy and confidentiality of any information in accordance with organisational policies.
Review the incident.
- Be aware of the possible psychological effects on yourself and others involved in the rescue and seek help if needed.
- Participate in the review of the first aid response as required.
If you successfully complete this course, you will receive a certificate which indicates the Statement of Attainments as recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This is a nationally recognised certification. The Statement is issued by us, Harness Energy (RTO 40521).
The CPR ‘Statement of attainment’ is for the Nationally Accredited Unit/s of Competency

The Certificate is usually needed as evidence for your employer for safety and compliance requirements.
CPR Certificate is valid for 12 months/1 Year and will need to be renewed through repeating this training

Frequently Asked Questions
The one practical course that has validity to just about everyone. You do not know when you might need it – at home or at work – but knowing this skill is life-critical. It is also a skill that you need to keep practiced at and therefore is usually done from a work-perspective annually. CPR training is also valid for duty of care and general Work Health and Safety perspectives with many employers proactively providing this training.
Once you complete this training you should have the knowledge and core capability to manage an unconscious, casualty including appropriate positioning to reduce the risk of airway compromise and performing at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor and repeated for an infant.
Additionally, you should be able to deliver at least one shock with the automated external defibrillator (AED) , demonstrate an ability to rotation of single rescuer operators with minimal interruptions to compressions, know how to respond appropriately in the event of regurgitation or vomiting and handing over to emergency services and associated activities
It is a requirement of the training that CPR for infants / young children be included. The Harness course provides practical instruction using infant manikins as the approach for infants is different compared with adults.
The acronym DRSABCD means Danger, Response, Send, Airway, Breathing, CPR, Defibrillation. During our CPR training you will learn the details of each component and how to apply them to your working environment.
CPR Training is subject to requirements from an organisation, industry and state level exist. As such, you should discuss the requirements that apply to you with your employer as well as review the specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this CPR course – noting that the training generally needs redoing on an annual basis and requirements for refresher training may vary according to your role, organisation and national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.
