Introduction
The White Card Course is a mandatory requirement that ensures all site personnel have the essential knowledge to work safely on a construction site. Our training bridges the gap between theory and the field, equipping you to identify construction hazards, apply appropriate risk control measures, and follow emergency response procedures. You will also master the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ensuring you are site-ready from day one.
As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), we deliver this White Card Course face-to-face at our training hubs in Brisbane, Chinchilla, Gladstone, and Toowoomba. We don’t offer online learning for this specific course because we believe the practical component and direct interaction with a trainer are vital to real-world safety.
This nationally-recognised course serves both new entrants and experienced workers needing a safety refresh. If you’ve been away from the industry for two years or more, the Queensland Government recommends sitting the White Card Course again. We can help you access CSQ funding for this course if you meet the eligibility criteria.

Frequently Asked Questions
A White Card is the safety training required before entering any site. Having successfully completed the course ensures you can work safely within the construction industry and understand your practical responsibilities. If you have been away from construction work for an extended period, this construction induction training serves as a critical knowledge refresh.
Safety is never something to take lightly; neither are your obligations to the safety of yourself or your colleagues. This White Card Course also covers various roles outside general construction that involve site-based activities. As an approved RTO, you can trust Harness Energy to deliver a thorough certification so you can get back to work with confidence.
No, you cannot legally complete construction work without a White Card from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). The White Card is a mandatory requirement for anyone wishing to complete construction work in Australia. It serves as evidence that you have completed the necessary training in construction safety and understand the core principles needed to maintain a safe working environment. Without it, not only do you risk your own safety, but you also jeopardise the well-being of your colleagues and the overall compliance of your workplace. Therefore, if you’re planning to enter the construction industry, obtaining your construction induction training certificate should be your first step.
In the construction industry, the Blue Card was the predecessor to the current White Card. If you hold one of these former Blue Cards, you’re generally valid to enter most sites across Australia. However, because this unit of competency specifies the most up-to-date safety information, we recommend upgrading to the current course code (CPCWHS1001) to ensure you’re compliant with mandatory work health and safety standards. Be sure to check your requirements with your employer.
Yes, the White Card is the same as the construction induction training card. The current formal name for the construction induction training certification is the CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry. The Queensland White Card Course is accepted across Australia, including New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia, the Northern Territory, Victoria, and Tasmania. The White Card does not have an expiry date. However, recommendations do exist depending on your role and industry.
Once you have selected your preferred date and completed the enrolment process, you will need to bring three forms of ID (such as a passport or Medicare Card) to prove you’re an Australian citizen or have valid visa rights. As an accredited Registered Training Organisation, Harness Energy provides all necessary learning resources and assessment materials on the day. You do not need to bring your own PPE for the practical assessment, as these are provided at our facility.

Yes, the Construction Induction Training, commonly referred to as the White Card training, covers the essential aspects of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). During the course, our experienced teachers will teach you about the various types of PPE required on construction sites, such as a hard hat, high-vis vest, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.
By understanding these critical safety measures, you’ll be better prepared to protect yourself and your colleagues from potential hazards, making the construction site a safer place for everyone.
National White Card Courses with Harness Energy start at $99. There are no hidden costs or additional costs for your replacement card if requested at the time of enrolment.
The course takes 4.5 hours. Once you successfully complete the assessment tasks, your paperwork is processed within one business day
A White Card is essential for anyone looking to work in the building and construction industry in Australia. This includes a broad range of jobs, such as labourers, electricians, plumbers, site supervisors, and even project managers.
Essentially, if your role involves entering a construction site, participating in any form of construction activity, or overseeing construction work, you are required by law to hold a valid White Card. The importance of a White Card extends beyond just construction and into other industries like manufacturing, agriculture, transport & logistics, and mining, oil, and gas.
