Introduction
Course Details
This Poly Welding training is a combination course that includes both the Butt Welding and Electrofusion Welding methods. Includes the theoretical and practical components to meet the skills and knowledge required to undertake polyethylene welding (also known as poly welding) using both Butt and Electrofusion welding equipment. This is a combined training course run over two consecutive days. If you require just the Butt Welding or just the Electrofusion Welding course, these are also available separately.
This Poly Welding course is relevant to participants who may be involved in the installation and maintenance of pipelines transmitting gas and liquids, as well as those working in the mining sector.
Participants will gain the following skills and knowledge in relation to both methods of welding:
- Identifying materials being used in the installation as compatible for welding using butt welding and electrofusion methods
- Calculating appropriate welding parameters to be used
- Maintaining and calibrating welding equipment
- Performing welding
- Assessing quality of welded joints made
Training and assessment is conducted at Harness Energy Training facilities. Optionally, training and assessment can be conducted at the premises of industry clients providing there are suitable industry training facilities.
Upon successful completion of this course, a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following unit of competency will be issued:
PMBWELD301E Join polyethylene plastic pipelines using butt welding
PMBWELD302E Join polyethylene plastic pipelines using electrofusion welding
NOTE: Statement of Attainment will be issued by Harness Energy (RTO 40521)
