The Gladstone based Advanced Rigging Course teaches you the more advanced level of Rigging skills such as flying foxes, cableways, derricks and structures as well as suspended scaffolds to name a few. Clearly, you have previously undertaken the Intermediate Rigging Licence training and any required work experience, so are now ready to reach the next, and final, Licenced Rigging Level. As the Advanced Rigging Course is nationally accredited training, we teach the content in line with the requirements as set out in the (training.gov) unit of competency CPCCLRG4001 – Licence to perform rigging advanced level. Our approach to teaching is follows this structured approach:

- Select and inspect Rigging equipment
- Set up actual Rigging task
- Undertake advanced rigging activities which includes practical aspects
- Properly complete the Rigging task

CPCCLRG4001 - Licence to perform rigging advanced level
Training Prerequisites
The advanced rigging licence course includes the theoretical and practical components to meet the skills and knowledge required to safely perform advanced rigging work for the high-risk work licence class RA.
You will gain the following skills and knowledge:
- Legislation and standards
- Risk management
- Communication methods
- Steel erection
- Erecting hoists (including mast climbing hoists)
- Placing pre-cast concrete
- Moving plant and equipment using skates, chain blocks and tirfors
- Installing safety nets and static lines
- Installing perimeter safety screens and shutters
- Cantilever crane loading platforms
- Rigging of cranes, conveyers, dredges and excavators
- Tilt slabs, demolition work and dual lifts
- Gin poles and shear legs
- Flying foxes and cable ways
- Guyed derricks and structures
- Suspended scaffolds and fabricated hung scaffolds
Training and assessment is conducted at Harness Energy Training facilities in Gladstone where we have the space to be able to effectively cover all the components of this higher skilled Rigging course. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted at the premises of industry clients providing there are suitable industry training facilities.

Conclude Rigging Operations
It is important you understand that this licence-focused training itself does not give you your high risk licence. However, assuming you pass your Rigging assessment you have 60 days to apply (and be assessed) for your high risk work licence.
Currently, you have to renew your licence within 12 months of its expiry otherwise your high risk work licence can’t be renewed, you will have to repeat this training course and re-apply for your licence or re-enrol in the course again and be supervised by somebody who has a current licence for the same class.
Upon successful completion of this course, a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency will be issued:
CPCCLRG4001 Licence to perform rigging advanced level
NOTE: Statement of Attainment will be issued by Harness Energy RTO 40521
Resits – If you are required to resit, resit-specific fees are $500pp.
Competence in these units does not in itself result in a licence. Participants are only eligible to apply for a High-Risk Work Licence in the specific state or territory where they have:
- Completed their training, and
- Are eighteen (18) years of age, and
- Have completed the minimum logbook hours or training record, and
- Have passed the mandated national assessment instrument, and
- Have met any other state or territory work health and safety (WHS) criteria.
A licensing fee is payable to the relevant state or territory jurisdiction for those students wishing to apply for a High Risk Work Licence (class RA).
Please note that in relation to High Risk Work and WHS Legislation, once you pass your assessment you will have 60 days to apply for your licence. You must renew your licence within 24 months of its expiry otherwise:
- Your licence can’t be renewed.
- You need to repeat the course and re-apply for your licence.
- You need to enrol in the course again and be supervised by somebody who has a current licence for the same class.
Course Prerequisites
This course is suitable for those who have the required dogging and intermediate rigging licences & experience. Variations exist on a state by state basis. Participants undertaking this course may intend to work with mechanical load shifting equipment and associated gear to move, place or secure loads, including plant, equipment or members of a building or structure, whilst also ensuring the stability of those members and set up and dismantle cranes and hoists.
A moderate English language, literacy and numeracy skill level is required.
Participants must be over eighteen (18) years of age to undertake the mandated national assessment instrument, and must be able to provide a current High-Risk Work Licence and Statement of Attainment for the following unit of competency as a pre-requisite for undertaking this course:
- CPCCLRG3002 Licence to perform rigging intermediate level
- RI Rigging Intermediate
All participants are required to wear the following minimum PPE to enter our facilities:
- Fully enclosed shoes (steel-capped boots)
- Long-sleeve shirt with high visibility
- Long work pants
Additional PPE may be required depending on the course requirements.
