Course Details
This training course is designed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively supervise asbestos removal and handle asbestos-containing material safely. It covers various aspects such as planning, site preparation, personnel supervision, and execution of non-friable (bonded) asbestos work. The course is suitable for individuals employed as asbestos removalists in industries like telecommunications, NBN, construction, demolition, trenching, fencing, and related fields. It specifically caters to those involved in removing over 10 square meters of bonded asbestos in a workplace.
The course content aligns with the Regulations, Code of Practice, National Standards, and encompasses the following topics
- Understanding the legislative framework
- Identifying different types, uses, and sizes of asbestos
- Planning, preparing, and isolating a site for asbestos removal
- Selecting and utilising Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for non-friable asbestos removal
- Supervising asbestos removalists and licensed asbestos assessors
- Overseeing the asbestos removal and decontamination process
- Providing supervision and support to team members
- Implementing risk management practices
- Creating a Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS)
- Following procedures for the removal and disposal of non-friable asbestos
