Harness offers a three-day Operate a Forklift training course and is designed for those currently employed in forklift operation and/or the logistics, warehouse or transport industry, as well as anyone looking for employment where operating a forklift is a requirement of the role – gaining the ability to operate a forklift can present a range of employment opportunities.
Upon successful completion of this course students will receive a Statement of Attainment for Operate a Forklift – RIIHAN201D (Current).
Please note: This course is a WHS course, not a licensing course.
Throughout the three-day course, Harness trainers will cover theoretical and practical elements that can be applied in the workplace.
The mode of delivery for this course is face to face in a classroom environment as well as significant practical elements outside of the classroom.

When you sign up for our forklift training course, we believe that you should leave with everything you need to operate a forklift and to achieve this we focus on three key elements:
Planning and preparing for forklift operations:
1.1 Access, interpret and apply forklift and load handling documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
1.2 Obtain, interpret and clarify/confirm work requirements and briefings before proceeding
1.3 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
1.4 Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
1.5 Identify approved forklift attachments and comply with operating capacities of the allocated equipment
1.6 Coordinate activities with others at the site prior to commencing, during and on completion of the work activity
Operating a forklift:
2.1 Carry out pre-start, start-up, park-up and shutdown procedures
2.2 Monitor and anticipate traffic flow and work area conditions, facilitate safe operations and ensure the most efficient route of travel is selected and used
2.3 Correctly fit, use and remove approved forklift attachments
2.4 Manoeuvre and position forklift smoothly
2.5 Secure, lift, transfer and place load correctly
2.6 Act/report on monitoring systems and alarms
2.7 Recognise and respond to site hazards and emergency situations
2.8 Complete work correctly
Carrying out operator maintenance:
3.1 Carry out forklift inspections and fault finding techniques
3.2 Carry out routine operational servicing, lubrication and housekeeping tasks
3.3 Carry out minor maintenance
3.4 Process written records
