Harness offers a Fatigue Management Level 1 course which involves the skills and knowledge required to apply fatigue management strategies within the transport and logistics industry.
On successful completion, participants will be awarded the Unit of Competency – Apply fatigue management strategies TLIF0005.
The assessment for this course has been designed to assess the individual to the Australian Qualification Framework, relevant Training Package RII, Australian and Industry expectations, as well as Commonwealth and State Legislation.

The mode of delivery for this course is face to face in a classroom environment as well as significant practical elements outside of the classroom.

Theory is presented in a supportive learner centered environment designed to provide functional theoretical knowledge that is directly applicable to real world tasks.
Learning materials provided include the Harness student handbook and participants will be advised in advance of attending the course if there are any materials to be provided by them.
Throughout the Harness course our trainers will cover off the below operations ensuring a comprehensive understanding of both practical and theoretical elements.
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to apply fatigue management strategies within the transport and logistics industry. Work is undertaken in compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, codes and guidelines.
It includes identifying and acting on signs of fatigue and implementing appropriate strategies to minimise fatigue during work activities, in particular when operating equipment, trains, vehicles, load shifting equipment, marine vessels and aircraft.
IDENTIFY AND ACT ON SIGNS OF FATIGUE
- Potential causes of fatigue are identified and action is taken to minimise their effects in accordance with company procedures
- Personal warning signs of fatigue are recognised and necessary steps are taken in accordance with workplace procedures, to ensure that effective work capability and alertness are maintained
IMPLEMENT STRATEGIES TO MINIMISE FATIGUE
- Workplace procedures are assessed to minimise fatigue
- Factors that increase the risk of fatigue-related accidents and incidents are minimised
- Fatigue management strategies are implemented in accordance with workplace policy
- Lifestyle choices are made that promote the effective long-term management of fatigue
- Effective practices in combating fatigue are adopted and applied
- Personal fatigue management strategies are communicated to relevant people
- Appropriate counter measures are planned to combat fatigue
