Harness has designed a competency-based five (5) day Face to Face course for Certificate IV Work Health & Safety (WHS).

Competency-based learning:
We offer a unique training proposition by incorporating your existing skills, knowledge and experience into the training program.

Group A: for learners with prior relevant exposure to WHS [submit resume for eligibility check]

Group B: for learners without sufficient prior exposure to WHS. Additionally to the 5-day course, you are receiving mentoring and support over three (3) months, required to complete the workplace project developed for people who lack prior experience in the field.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this course and associated projects, participants will be awarded BSB41415 Certificate IV Work, Health and Safety.

Learning Methods

Students will undergo intensive training in a classroom environment, providing best possible chance to succeed with their learning outcome. Students will be required to perform home-work and projects during the course.

Students will obtain the knowledge and skills needed to better implement and support an organisation’s WHS management systems, prepare workplace personnel for dealing with WHS issues, ensure legislative requirements are understood and applied in the workplace, implement WHS initiatives and processes that support organisational WHS specifications.

This course is assessed in a holistic manner incorporating multiple-choice workbooks and competency based projects. The project design allows participants to identify areas of improvement in their theoretical knowledge, provide them with the necessary knowledge and assist in the development of their ability to apply this essential skill set efficiently in practice.

RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) can be considered for this qualification.

5 Core Units of Competency for Certificate IV Work Health & Safety:

  • BSBWHS402 Assist with compliance with WHS laws
  • BSBWHS403 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS consultation and participation processes
  • BSBWHS404 Contribute to WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control
  • BSBWHS405 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS management systems
  • BSBWHS406 Assist with responding to incidents 

Through industry consultation Harness has chosen the below 5 Elective Units for Certificate IV Work Health & Safety:

  • BSBWHS408 – Assist with effective WHS management of contractors
  • BSBWHS409 – Assist with workplace monitoring processes
  • BSBWHS410 – Contribute to work-related health and safety measures and initiatives
  • BSBCMM401 – Make a presentation
  • BSBWHS407 – Assist with claims management, rehabilitation and return-to-work programs
