To be eligible for consideration, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be of Australian Indigenous decent; from the IMAN Traditional Owners Group
  • Have a valid open C class driver’s licence
  • Have completed at least Year 10 in High School
  • Live in or be willing to relocate to the Western Downs region if offered a place in the program
  • Have a strong commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment.
  • Have some experience relevant to the Oil and Gas industry e.g., have done jobs where you’ve needed a strong safety focus / related trade
  • Have an interest in developing a long-term career in the natural gas sector

The Natural Gas sector is continuously growing, and an opportunity has arisen for the recruitment of 4x Well Site Support TO’ [Name TBC by Shell to support the operations of our esteemed client in the Western Downs region, Queensland.

As part of Shell QGC’s contractual agreements with Traditional Owners who hold connections to Shell’s operational footprint, this program prioritises Iman Traditional Owner representation in the natural gas sector in the western downs.

The onboarding of these roles will fall under the Green Hat program, where the ‘Well Site Support TO’ [Name TBC by Shell] will undertake safety mentoring during the probation and onboarding process of their commencement, to ensure strong HSE practices for a robust and safe long-term career in the natural gas industry.

What is a Green Hat?

When a worker starts in a new working environment for the first time, they are exposed to new rules and procedures, and might not be aware of all of the risks in the workplace. This can compromise their safety and the safety of those around them.

A “Green Hat” system is common HSE practice in the Oil & Gas industry, based on the principle that as a new hire, they will wear a green coloured safety helmet during their probation and orientation period so that they are easily identifiable on site by their co-workers and supervisors.

A Green Hat program allows new team members to become fully operational and adapt to a company’s Safety culture and HSE standards in the shortest period of time, aiming to reduce incidents of safety violations, minimising injuries and improving safety learning culture and increasing operational performance.
