Course Prerequisites
This course is suitable for those new to the mining industry and wishing to legally work on a coal mine site in Queensland. Some mine sites have specific requirements for their generic induction training, so anyone who is considering enrolling in the Generic Induction is advised to first confirm the site entry requirements.
A basic to moderate level of English language, literacy and numeracy is required.
If any part of the required performance evidence cannot be gathered, the participant will be issued with a Practical Skills Assessment/Workplace Experience Logbook. This will need to be completed on-site and signed off by their supervisor. Participants have twelve (12) months to complete this. On completion, the participant returns the logbook to Site Skills Training for verification. A Statement of Attainment will then be issued and the GI SkillPASS Card will be issued by Energy Skills Queensland.
All participants are required to wear the following minimum PPE to enter our facilities:
- Fully enclosed shoes (steel-capped boots preferred)
- Long-sleeve shirt with high visibility
- Long work pants
Additional PPE may be required depending on the course requirements.
