Course Details
This Chainsaw Operations Level 1 course includes the theoretical and practical components to meet the skills and knowledge required to trim and cut felled tree as well as minor chainsaw maintenance.
By joining this Chainsaw Training Course you will learn about both how to maintain and operate a chainsaw as well as the trimming and cutting of felled trees. More specifically, topics will help you gain the following skills and knowledge:
- Trimming and cutting hardwood or softwood trees
- Tree defects and stresses
- Cutting techniques, patterns and sequences
- Basic chainsaw maintenance activities
- Hazards and risks
- Environmental protection practices
Training and assessment is conducted at Harness Energy Training facilities here in Gladstone. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted at the premises of industry clients providing there are suitable industry training facilities.
Upon successful completion of this course, a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency will be issued:
FWPCOT2273 Trim and cut felled trees
FWPCOT2254 Maintain chainsaws
NOTE: Statement of Attainment will be issued by Competency Training Pty Ltd (RTO 31299)
Course Prerequisites
This course is suitable for those who are required to use a chainsaw to safely trim and cut felled trees, and basic chainsaw maintenance. Participants may be already working in the arboriculture, forestry, agriculture, horticulture or primary industries, or are interested in entering these industries.
A basic to moderate English language, literacy and numeracy skill level is required.
All participants are required to wear the following minimum PPE to enter our facilities:
- Fully enclosed shoes (steel-capped boots preferred)
- Long-sleeve shirt with high visibility
- Long work pants
Additional PPE may be required depending on the course requirements.
