Vehicle Loading Crane Licence – Perth

This CV Licence training is delivered in Perth by skilled instructors who have many years of experience operating this type of crane. It is important to note that this licence is part of the requirements to qualify for a High Risk Work licence (HRWL). National Assessment Instrument (NAI) is the mandated assessment for the HRWL to operate the relevant licencing class. Planning The Loading Crane Work Training: 

• Task requirement identification in accordance with all workplace procedures and personnel
• Surface area suitability and evaluation for the planned vehicle loading/unloading operations
• Rated Capacity (RC) and the lifting gear Working Load Limit (WLL) are established for the work in line with manufacturer and workplace protocols
• The areas required for operating the vehicle loading crane and the load/s in work area are appropriately assessed and determined
• Hazard identification and risk management measures are applied and communicated
• Traffic management planning, information and communications for aspects such as task clarifications or equipment use

Preparation Training for the actual Loading Crane work: 

• Consultation with key people established and maintained to ensure safe crane and lifting operations are clear and consistent with all requirements
• Risk management rechecking and validation
• Vehicle loading crane controls are accessed safely
• Pre-start vehicle loading crane checks and associated activities
• Vehicle loading crane set up for both crane and taks including load chart/s and safe work procedures
• Boom/jib and lifting gear are properly set up
• Vehicle loading crane stabilisatio as well as any other operational checks for damage or defects along with reporting, recording or other necessary actions
• Vehicle loading crane logbook activities including inspection, crane type, completeness and rectifications signed off
• Environmental condition assessment 
• Weight of load is identified, calculated or estimated, Derated WLL of lifting equipment resulting from selected slinging techniques is calculated
• Lifting points and slinging techniques identified, prepared and safety checked and load destination aspects considered eg stability 

Perform work/task with Loading Crane

• Lifts are determined within the RC of the vehicle loading crane
• Boom/jib and hook block safe positioning 
• Connecting lifting gear and test lifting conducted
• Load transferring with relevant crane movements and tag lines along with monitoring, communication and safety considerations 
• Load is lowered and safely landed, disconnection and post lifting inspections

Training for proper Packing up:  

• Crane boom/jib, lifting gear and associated equipment are stowed and secured
• Motion locks and brakes are applied and stabilisers are stowed and secured
• Crane shut down and secured to prevent unauthorised access as well as securing plates or packing secured along with final checks and inspections

Applying for a Licence to Operate a vehicle loading Crane – Important Information

It is important you understand that this licence-focused training itself does not give you your high risk licence. However, assuming you pass your Vehicle Loading Crane assessment you have 60 days to apply (and be assessed) for your high risk work licence.

Perth High Risk Licence Applications Additional Support Options Available for Perth-based applicants:

•  OPTION 1 – New Licence – New HRWL Application Fee – $86 (GST Free) + Processing Fee – $49 + GST + Passport Photos – $10 + GST
•  OPTION 2 – Existing Licence / Update – Existing HRWL Application Fee – $43 (GST Free) + Processing Fee – $49 + GST
•  OPTION 3 – You opt to apply for your licence directly – no additional fees apply.  

Currently, you have to renew your licence within 12 months of its expiry otherwise your high risk work licence can’t be renewed, you will have to repeat this training course and re-apply for your licence or re-enrol in the course again and be supervised by somebody who has a current licence for the same class.

QLD Licencing Information

• On successful completion of the assessment, applicants will receive an assessment summary (AS1) from the accredited assessor and a statement of attainment from the RTO.
• Complete the High Risk Licence Application via the QLD Government HRW site       Please note: this must be done within 60 days of successfully completing the practical assessment and attracts an additional fee of $100.10. Please note: Interstate residents can apply for a Queensland HRW licence as long as they were trained and assessed in Queensland by a Queensland based registered training organisation (RTO) and assessor.

If you successfully complete this course, you will receive a certificate which indicates the Statement of Attainments as recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This is a nationally recognised certification. The Statement is issued by us, Harness Energy (RTO 40521).

The Vehicle Loading Crane Licence  ‘Statement of attainment’ is for the Nationally Accredited Units of Competency:

• TLILIC0024 – Licence to operate a vehicle loading crane (10 mtr tonnes plus)

The Certificate is usually needed as evidence for your employer for safety and compliance requirements. In Queensland, you must complete your own online application for a new Queensland HRW Licence on meeting all the licence requirements

Resits – If you are required to resit, fees are charged at full course rate and you will be required to attend another 3 full days of training.
