If you live in or around Toowoomba (or are within commuting distance), are seeking a career in construction or associated trades, and want to be supported as well as getting paid, then this is a program you should apply for!
If you meet the eligibility criteria, such as not previously done this training, are a first nations applicant, you can apply to participate in this 10 week training; a pathway to an apprenticeship and potentially a full time career.

As there is a maximum of 10 available places. Once we receive your application, we will assess for suitability, against the selection criteria, and contact you regarding interview/s and the next application steps so that the best candidates are set up to succeed from the start.
This is a Queensland Government Funded program meaning your training is fully funded. While you may incur some personal incidental expenses associated with your day to day living during the program, you will be paid a wage. The Program is based in Toowoomba. As such you are responsible for being able to get to and from the training centre and host employer sites which will also be within or around Toowoomba, QLD. The full details of this will be explained during the interview process

The program starts in January 2025. Currently the actual commencement date is expected to be 13 Jan. If this is updated at all , it will be advised to each individual.

A key part of this program is to connect suitable workers with suitable employers within the local region’s building and construction area. Harness are also recruiting host employers for the 3 weeks of work experience that are part of the practical components of this program.

A visa holder who has the right to work in Australia cannot apply for this program as this program is a specific initiative for First Nations Australians and is nominated this way by the funding organisation, which is the Queensland Government.

The Build You Up program is fully funded by the Queensland Government to create pathways to employment for First Nations Australians. As a host employer you would benefit from a new team participant, at no cost to your organisation, as well as evaluate someone for an ongoing role after the program through either immediate employment, an apprenticeship, or traineeship. Any post program training activities do not form part of this program.
If your organisation is within the building, construction or associated trades, have a qualified and experienced supervisor able to assist and mentor a program participant during the program’s three weeks of work experience, are located in or around Toowoomba then you are potentially eligible.
